Special Prosecutor Ólafur Th. Hauksson conducted raids in at least three locations in the capital region at noon today in relation to an investigation connected with MP Bank, Straumur investment bank and the Central Bank of Iceland.

Hauksson wouldn’t comment on the case when visir.is contacted him but according to the media’s sources, four arrests have taken place in connection to the raids.
Stefán Jóhann Stefánsson, an editor at the Central Bank, confirmed that people on behalf of the Special Prosecutor were inside the bank’s facilities. It has also been confirmed that employees of his entered the property of MP Bank and ALMC, formerly Straumur.
A spokesperson for ALMC told visir.is that their employees assisted the Special Prosecutor’s people as best they could.
The Special Prosecutor is also investigating Landsbanki Bank and one of its former CEOs is currently behind bars.
