Icelandic telecom company Skipti, the mother company of Síminn, has purchased the Danish telecom company Ventelo Denmark, which provides information technology solutions for companies, including internet service and data transfer.
“This investment coincides with Skipti’s policy to grow in foreign markets and follow up on the expansion of our Icelandic customers in Denmark, the UK and northern Europe,” Skipti CEO Brynjólfur Bjarnason told Vidskiptabladid.
The price of the investment has not been revealed, but Ventelo Denmark’s turnover in 2006 was DKK 150 million (USD 29 million, EUR 20 million).
Síminn, Skipti’s daughter company, purchased the Danish telecom company BusinessPhone last August, which has similar operations as Ventelo Denmark, but Bjarnason said they would not be merged “at the moment.”
