Iceland’s RAX Covered in New York Times

The photography book The Last Days of the Arctic by Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson (a.k.a. RAX), which will be published in September 2010, was covered in the New York Times earlier this month.

Over the past 25 years Axelsson has monitored and documented changes in the environment and ways of life in the Arctic regions, as stated on the website of Fabulous Iceland.

“You tell yourself that you’re never returning, but this is a place that keeps dragging you back,” Axelsson told the New York Times. “On the ice, you see life in a totally different way. There’s a sense of serenity and simplicity.”

The photographs in his book show in detail the enormous transformations that have taken place in the area because of global warming.
