Iceland’s Prime Minister to Meet Pope

Iceland’s Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde and his wife, Inga Jóna Thórdardóttir, are traveling to Italy today for an official visit and will meet with Pope Benedict XVI tomorrow.

Haarde will also meet Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi to discuss the relations between Iceland and Italy, business and various international issues, according to Morgunbladid.

During his three-day official visit Haarde will learn about the work of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and speak at a meeting organized by the Italian-Icelandic Trade Council.
