Iceland’s PM World’s 75th Most Powerful Woman

Prime Minister of Iceland Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir made the Forbes’ listing of the world’s 100 most powerful women this year, ranking 75th. The magazine explained Sigurdardóttir qualified for her attempts to restore Iceland’s economy after the crash.

According to Forbes, the world’s most powerful woman is Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. Most of the women on the list are executives of conglomerates and Merkel is the only politician to have made it to the top ten, visir.is reports.

Another novice on the list, in addition to Iceland’s PM, is the US First Lady Michelle Obama, who ranks 40th. She trumps media personality Oprah Winfrey, number 41, and Queen of England Elisabeth II, number 42.
