Iceland’s Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde said after a meeting between leaders of NATO countries in Romania yesterday that it is important that NATO continues its operations in Afghanistan in accordance with the policy it has followed until now.
“We have achieved many things but we cannot stop midway, people agree to that unanimously at this meeting,” Haarde said according to Morgunbladid.
At the meeting, France decided to increase its military force in Afghanistan by 1,000 and Germany and Denmark have also announced they will increase their contributions. Around 40 nations have soldiers in Afghanistan.
