At the meeting, Sigmundur Davíð complimented Thorning-Schmidt for her easily-understandable Danish. Thorning-Schmidt said she wanted Iceland to join the EU but stated that it was the choice of the Icelandic people, ruv.is reports.
In response to a question about China’s interest in Iceland and the Arctic, Sigmundur Davíð said at a press conference that the interest was natural but a reminder that the Nordic countries should be watchful.
