Iceland’s Olympic Handball Team Beats France and GB

The Icelandic national team in men’s handball was victorious in its recent games against France and Great Britain at the London Olympics. Iceland has not lost any of their five games in the preliminary stage.

Iceland took an early lead against France on Saturday, maintaining a four-goal advantage with five minutes of the first half remaining. But France finished strongly ending the first half just one down, 15-16.

After the break, the French led for the first time with 22-21, increasing their lead to 25-23 halfway through the second half. Iceland then equalized and ended the game one up, 30-29.

France, who are current World and Olympic Champions, beat Iceland in the final at the 2008 games in Beijing.

Iceland played hosts Great Britain yesterday taking the game with a 17 point lead, 41:24.

Iceland’s next game will be against Hungary on Wednesday.
