Iceland’s Nikita Clothing Opens First Flagship Store

Preceding its tenth anniversary next year, Icelandic fashion label Nikita will open its first flagship store on Laugavegur 56 in central Reykjavík today during the Reykjavík Culture Night.

Established by fashion designer Heida Birgisdóttir in 2000, Nikita defines itself as a brand “for girls who ride.” Since then Nikita’s heritage has “grown, lived and been nurtured in the rugged and magnificent realm of Iceland,” a press release reads.

Laugavegur 56 is a four-storey house with a back garden and will become a “Nikita lifestyle oasis.” Two floors will be dedicated to retail space, the third floor will serve as extra work space and the top floor has been earmarked for owner use.

In the backyard, surrounding walls will display artwork by featured street artists, accommodate a custom-built mini ramp along with places to sit and relax. Special events and launches will be held there with enough space for bands to play.

The store will be fully operational in mid-September. Today, there will be an open-house party and all are welcome.
