Iceland’s New PM Meets Russian Counterpart

Newly-elected Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson met with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, on Monday at the Barents Summit in Kirkenes in Norway.

The prime ministers discussed Iceland’s increased participation and cooperation in Arctic issues as well as trade and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as stated on the website of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Direct flights from Iceland to St. Petersburg were launched last weekend.
