Iceland’s New Government

The party groups of the Icelandic coalition parties have approved their lists of ministers, RÚV reports.

Iceland’s new government will have eleven ministers.

The following six are from the Independence Party:

Bjarni Benediktsson, prime minister

Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, minister for foreign affairs

Sigríður Á. Andersen, minister of justice

Jón Gunnarsson, minister of transportation, regional development and municipal affairs

Kristján Þór Júíusson, minister of education

Þórdís Kolbrún Gylfadóttir, minister of tourism, industry and innovation

From the Reform Party:

Benedikt Jóhannesson (former publisher of Iceland Review), minister of finance

Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, minister of fisheries and agriculture

Þorsteinn Víglundsson, minister of social affairs and equal rights

From Bright Future:

Óttarr Proppé, minister of health

Björt Ólafsdóttir, minister for the environment and natural resources
