Iceland’s Most Famous Phone Dies

Pop artist Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson’s phone, a Nokia 6110, died after 15 years of constant use.

“Yes it’s true. The phone started to drain battery after battery. We have walked together through good times and bad since 1998, and now it has stopped working,” Páll Óskar said in an interview with visir.is.

“I promised the phone that after it would die, I would put it on the sideboard with the seven dwarves. So after it gave up, I went on eBay and found seven porcelain dwarves, who watch over the phone,” he explained.
