The largest gingerbread house in Iceland is currently underway in Eyrarbakki in south Iceland. The house will be 15 square meters in size and two floors high. The gingerbread house will be the first house of a new market inside the village’s old salt fish factory.

“The baking is up to full speed,” local café and culture house owner Anna S. Árnadóttir told mbl.is. The bakery HP-flatkökur in the neighboring town of Selfoss is responsible for the task.
Huge gingerbread plates will be fastened onto a wooden frame. “We are going to ask the kids from the school to come and decorate the plates and fasten them onto the frame and that way make a human-sized gingerbread house,” Árnadóttir said.
