Iceland’s Kuroi Releases First Album

Young Icelandic indie band Kuroi, which began claiming its spot on the local music scene earlier this winter, has released its debut, EP by Kuroi, and the band will celebrate the album’s release with a concert tonight.

“The band plays acoustic guitar rock and also flirts with the sound of the bands of the 1960s, Led Zeppelin and others,” a Smekkleysa press release described, adding, “There are also strong influences from emo bands like Sunny Day Real Estate.”

Kuroi’s concert begins at Grand Rokk in Reykjavík at 11 pm. Admission is ISK 500 (USD 4.03, EUR 2.96). EP by Kuroi will be sold at a discount during the concert but is also available at local record stores.
