Iceland’s Frost at LA Screamfest

Icelandic 2012 horror movie Frost by director Reynir Lyngdal is competing for the ‘golden skull’ trophy at the annual film festival Screamfest in Los Angeles, dedicated to the genre, which began yesterday and will run through October 18.

“It’s bloody awful not being able to be there,” Reynir told Fréttablaðið. He is currently shooting the suspense television series Hraunið, a sequel to Hamarinn aired on Icelandic national broadcaster RÚV four years ago.

Screamfest has been described as the horror equivalent to Sundance. Many famous movies were first discovered there, including Paranormal Activity. Consultants to the festival are directors such as Wes Craven, John Carpenter and Eli Roth.
