Iceland’s Former PM among Protestors at Russian Embassy

Former Prime Minister of Iceland Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir and MP for the Social Democrats Sigríður Ingibjörg Ingadóttir were among the protestors outside the Russian embassy yesterday evening. People gathered outside the embassy, located on Garðarstræti in downtown Reykjavík, to protest Russia’s stance on gay rights, reports.

Earlier this year, Russia passed a law banning what it describes as propaganda for homosexuality.

The protest was part of All Out, a global movement for LGBT equality. Actions were held around the world, ahead of the G20 meeting in St. Petersburg tomorrow.
