Iceland’s Foreign Minister Visits Latvia

Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir is currently on an official visit in Latvia where amongst other things, she launched the operations of a recycling plant in Riga with Latvia’s Environment Minister Raimond Vejonis.

“It is good to be an Icelander in Latvia and our companies have been well received. We have many things in common, like open and powerful markets, hard-working and highly-educated employees and the longing to take on a new century,” Gísladóttir said in her speech at the occasion, 24 Stundir reports.

The recycling plant, PET-Baltija, is primarily owned by Icelandic recycling company Gámathjónustan and is the largest plant of its kind in the Baltic region. At the plant, plastic bottles will be recycled.
