Iceland’s Foreign Minister attended funeral of Ford

Iceland’s Foreign Minister Valgerdur Sverrisdóttir attended the funeral of former US President Gerald Ford in the cathedral in Washington DC yesterday.

More than 3,000 people attended the funeral of former President Ford, including a number of foreign officials, the current US President George W. Bush and the three remaining former US Presidents. Fréttabladid reports.

After the funeral, President Ford’s coffin was transported to the town Grand Rapids in Michigan, where he grew up. He will be buried there today after a private ceremony for his closest relatives.

Ford became president in 1974 when President Nixon resigned after the Watergate case. President Ford passed away in his home in California on December 26 at the age of 93.
