Iceland’s First Lady to Be on Television

Dorrit Moussaieff, the wife of Icelandic President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, will serve as an on-screen assistant to food guru Sólveig Eiríksdóttir on a three-episode television series made by Saga Film for Stöd 2 on healthy living. Shooting begins today.

The duo will cook up some interesting dishes on the show. The photo is not related to the story. By Páll Stefánsson.

“Dorrit is a really smart and fun woman who has always been interested in healthy food and leading a healthy lifestyle,” Eiríksdóttir told Fréttabladid, adding she is delighted to have the president’s wife assist her with the program.

The duo will visit the farm Skaftholt in the Gnúpverjahreppur district in south-central Iceland in the first episode, which Eiríksdóttir says is the best organic farm in Iceland. They will chat with the farmers and learn about organic farming and sustainability.

Eiríksdóttir describes the television show as a mixture of cooking and education. “We will meet people who are doing positive and interesting things and then use the products to cook at home. We want to show how people can use things like seaweed in a special way, like adding it to ice cream.”

Eiríksdóttir and Moussaieff will also visit playschools and elementary schools and educate children about the benefits of eating healthy food.
