Iceland’s Exista announces record profits

Investment company Exista announced yesterday earnings of ISK 57.2 billion (USD 887.6 million, EUR 651.6 million) for the first quarter of 2007; a new record quarter among companies registered on the Nordic Stock Exchange in Iceland (OMX).

That is equivalent to Exista gaining profits of ISK 636 million (USD 9.9 million, EUR 7.2 million) every day since January 1, as Fréttabladid reports.

Other companies also announced their quarterly earnings yesterday; Kaupthing Bank profited by ISK 20.3 billion (USD 315 million, EUR 231.3 million), Straumur-Burdarás by ISK 6 billion (USD 93.1 million, EUR 68.4 million) and Bakkavör Group by ISK 1.2 billion (USD 18.6 million, EUR 13.7 million).
