Iceland’s Equal Pay Certificate Bill Gets Attn

The announcement by the Icelandic government Wednesday that it plans to introduce a bill in parliament, requiring companies to prove they pay all employees the same, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality and nationality, has received attention world-wide. So much, indeed, that a video by Attn has been viewed 4.7 million times, received 28,000 likes and been shared more than 78,000 times.

You can watch the video here:

The bill, expected to pass into law, will require every company with 25 or more employees to obtain a certificate proving they provide equal pay for work of equal value. Authorities expect to eradicate the gender pay gap in Iceland by 2022.
