Icelandic business magazine Frjáls verslun has named CEO and owner of Primera Travel Group Andri Már Ingólfsson Iceland’s most successful businessman in 2007. Ingólfsson received the award at a special ceremony yesterday.
According to Frjáls verslun’s panel of judges, Ingólfsson, who is the sole owner of Primera Travel Group, earned the award for outstanding success in enlarging his company, model entrepreneurship and bold demeanor in overtaking foreign companies. Primera Travel Group is now the third largest travel agency in the Nordic countries.
Ingólfsson founded the travel agency Heimsferdir in 1992. That year, his company transported 1,000 passengers. This year, Ingólfsson owns 12 companies in seven countries, subsidiaries of Primera Travel Group, which transported one million passengers this year.
