Húni II Arrives in Reykjavík Today

The 50-year-old oak boat Húni II, which is sailing around the country with a custom-made band, will dock near the Maritime Museum in Reykjavík harbor around midday today.

City council chairman Dagur B. Eggertsson and city council officer Hjálmar Sveinsson will meet Húni II on a pilot boat and follow it to harbor. A water salute will then take place, welcoming the boat and its crew to town.

The Reykjavík Accordion Society will perform, followed by an address by Dagur. The boat’s crew will then be offered a light lunch.

At 8 pm, the band, comprising of Jónas Sigurðsson, Lára Rúnarsdóttir, Mugison, Ómar Guðjónsson, Guðni Finnsson and Arnar Gíslason, will perform.

The concerts, which take place at 16 harbors around Iceland, are held to raise funds for the search and rescue association ICE-SAR. The member association of each town organizes one concert and the ticket price goes towards their operation.
