The City of Reykjavík, the Icelandic Student Agency (FS) and University of Iceland signed a declaration of intent on Monday on the construction of 650 new apartments for students on the University of Iceland’s main campus and in the university’s vicinity in the next five years.
The campus will be organized with the goal of placing up to 400 new student apartments there and Reykjavík City authorities will allocate lots for 250 apartments on the behalf of FS close to the city center and the university.
Lots for 100 apartments on Ásholt and Brautarholt in central Reykjavík have already been allocated. Construction on these apartments will begin this year.
