The development of a new neighborhood in Vesturbugt at the capital’s wharf is scheduled to begin next year, according to the City of Reykjavík’s land use plan. Constructions are to be completed in 2016-2017.

This was confirmed by chair of Reykjavík City Council Dagur B. Eggertsson to Morgunblaðið.
Instead of the old shipyard at Vesturbugt, apartments and industrial buildings will rise. Underground, one parking space for each 100 square meters of an industrial building will be made and 0.8 parking spaces for each apartment.
