Hotel Nights Increase by 20 Percent in October

Nights spent by foreign tourists at accommodation in Iceland, about 79 percent of the total, increased by 23 percent in October 2012 compared to the same time last year.

According to the latest data from Statistics Iceland, accommodation nights increased to 140,500 in 2012 from 117,200 at the same time last year.

In addition, during the first ten months of 2012, the number of nights spent at hotels and other accommodation in Iceland increased by 17 percent with a total of 1,563,200 guests.
