Hotel accommodation utilization up by eight percent

The number of accommodation nights in June amounted to 133,700 in all of Iceland, compared to 123,900 in the same month in 2005. This is an increase of some eight percent. Accommodation utilization went up in all parts of the country, with the greatest relative increase in the west of Iceland, or 17 percent. This is reported by the Morgunbladid online edition today.

Both Icelanders and foreign visitors are responsible for the increase. The availability of accommodation also went up, with the number of rooms up by two percent and the number of beds up by one percent over the previous year.
