Horse World Masters: T2 – Gold for Denmark

Julie Christensen from Denmark presented her grey horse Straumur frá Seljabrekku consistently focused and calm throughout the whole round in T2 (tölt on loose rein) yesterday. The horse thanked her with continuity, especially where it really mattered, winning gold.

For Iceland the results were certainly disappointing: Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson on Alur frá Lundum II placed just behind Christensen in second place.

Riding without reins reveals how close a rider is to his or her horse and to which extent the horse is guided by the rider. Swedish rider Camilla Hed put it into words a couple of two days ago: if the horse is not 100 percent focused on its rider, it will easily fall into canter.

Actually, that cost scores for three of the aspirants for the world title in the T2, as their horses repeatedly fell into canter and had to be corrected by use of the reins.

Here you can watch a video of the final.
