The volcanic activity in Holuhraun appears to be stable, according to webcam observations, the Icelandic Met Office wrote in its update this morning. Since 7 pm yesterday, almost 20 earthquakes have been located at Bárðarbunga, of which around ten hit since midnight.
Four of the earthquakes were above magnitude 3.0, the strongest of which measured magnitude 4.3 and hit at 10:50 pm last night. A magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred at 4:59 yesterday.
Last night, there was little activity in the intrusive dike, which channels magma from the Bárðarbunga caldera to the eruption in Holuhraun. Some minor earthquakes have been located southwest of Kópasker, a village in Northeast Iceland.
