According to Fréttabladid, one of these location managers is Kokayi Ampah, who has worked with Clint Eastwood, and chose the black beaches of Sandvík as a suitable location for scenes from Flags of Our Fathers.
William Bowling, who scouted locations for Saving Private Ryan, The Horse Whisperer and The Fisher King, will also be traveling with the group, as well as Michael J. Burmeister, who found the locations for Terminator Salvation, Transformers and National Treasure.
Einar Tómasson at Film in Iceland described this project as the most extensive that his company has ever participated in, adding that the Hollywood delegation’s visit is a great promotion opportunity for Icelandic companies involved in the film industry.
The tour will take the delegation to areas in the vicinity of the capital region and to Hornafjördur in the southeast of the country, which has proven popular among foreign filmmakers.
