Hollywood Goes to Iceland

By Iceland Review

Director Ridley Scott chose Iceland for the sci-fi film Prometheus, Clint Eastwood filmed Flags of Our Fathers in Iceland, and Iceland was also the setting for the fantasy world of Game of Thrones.

Washington Post published an article today about the big increase in Hollywood movies being filmed in Iceland. “The country’s unique environment, along with generous tax incentives, continues to attract some of the biggest Hollywood filmmakers and television producers,” the article reads.

The next movie filmed in Iceland to be released in cinemas will be Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which opens on December 25 in the U.S. and a day later in Iceland and the U.K.
