Hjaltalín Wins Music Award for Best Album

Hjaltalín’s album Terminal was named Best Pop Album 2009 at the Icelandic Music Awards on Saturday. Then Sigrídur Thorlacius, Hjaltalín’s lead female singer, received an award for the being the Voice of the Year 2009.

The Best Song was “Dreamin” by the duet Feldberg and the rock band Dikta was chosen the Most Popular Performer, Morgunbladid reports.

Classical musician Daníel Bjarnason received two awards, Best Composition for “Bow to String” and Best Composer for his album Processions.

Davíd Thór Jónsson of the band ADHD was named Best Performer and his band also received an award for Best Jazz Album.

The Best Classical/Contemporary Album was Haydn’s piano concerts performed by Edda Erlendsdóttir and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.

Emilíana Torrini received the Export Award and composer Jón Nordal the Honorary Award for his contribution to Icelandic music.
