The man who is suspected of having by accident killed a four-year-old with his vehicle in Reykjanesbaer, southwest Iceland, in December 2007 and then having fled the scene, left the country yesterday.
The court order disallowing the man, who is Polish, from leaving the country, which had already been extended once, expired last week.
Police has not been able to prove that the man in question was driving the vehicle which killed the boy and the suspect has maintained that he is not guilty, Fréttabladid reports.
The investigation is ongoing and police are currently waiting for the results of a DNA test which could conclusively prove that the car which hit the boy belongs to the main suspect.
