Higher Insurance Rates for Reckless Drivers

Drivers who have been fined for speeding or running a red light can expect to pay higher auto insurance rates in the future.

Sjóvá insurance company plans to change their risk assessment policy this fall by calculating their rates based on how much risk the driver poses in the traffic, according to Thór Sigfússon, CEO of Sjóvá, in a statement to Morgunbladid.

In addition to reckless drivers, young people who have recently passed their driving test and the owners of old and badly maintained vehicles will most likely have to pay higher insurance rates as well.
