High tech parents meeting

Icelandic elementary schools are preparing this week for the largest parents’ meeting in the country’s history.

Icelandic actor Stefán Karl Stefánsson will give a videocast presentation from his home in Los Angeles on bullying in all elementary schools in Iceland on 7 November.

Stefán Karl Stefánsson stars in Icelandic children’s program Latibaer (“Lazy Town”), which is aired in 100 countries and reaches around 100 million homes every day.

Stefánsson founded the non-profit organization Regnbogabörn (“Rainbow Children”) in 2002 to fight bullying. As reported on web site gedheilsa.net, he is passionate about this topic because he has witnessed, participated in and been a victim of bullying himself.

Stefánsson urged all parents to accompany their children to school 7 November in a press release. Stefánsson will begin with speaking to the school children for a half an hour and afterwards he plans to hold a parents meeting for two hours.

The tickets for the parents meeting, which will be more like a stand-up, cost ISK 1,000 (EUR 11.63, USD 14.62). Part of the profits will go towards Regnbogabörn.
