A young hawk perched on the control tower of Reykjavík Domestic Airport for about 45 minutes yesterday. It seemed rather tame and not bothered by air traffic or humans taking its picture. The hawk does not seem to have disrupted air traffic.
“It was nice to have a different type of landing on the airport,” air-traffic controller Adalsteinn Leifsson told Morgunbladid.
According to Leifsson, ornithologists say hawks often stay calm and quiet for a long time after they have eaten. A hawk was spotted feasting on a seagull at the icy Reykjavík Pond earlier in the day.
