Haukar Champions of Iceland in Men’s Handball

Haukar from Hafnarfjördur earned the Icelandic Championship title in the N1 men’s handball league yesterday after a 33-25 confident victory over Reykjavík club Valur. Haukar defended its title from last year.

“It was no coincidence that we became Icelandic champions for the second year in a row. I have a great team to work with,” Haukar’s trainer Aron Kristjánsson, told Morgunbladid. The game took place at Valur’s home ground, Hlídarendi.

“I was convinced before this game that we would finish this at Hlídarendi and raise the cup. There was no doubt in my mind, although Valur hadn’t lost a game on their home turf for almost two years,” Kristjánsson added.
