Hallgrímskirkja among ‘World’s Strangest Buildings’

According to the website strangebuildings.com, Hallgrímskirkja, Reykjavík’s iconic church, is one of the strangest buildings in the world. It should be noted that the list is interactive and constantly updated according to votes, with Hallgrímskirkja at 3rd place at the time of writing, just below Casa da Musica and the Stone House, both in Portugal.

Hallgrímskirka was designed by architect Guðjón Samúelsson, commissioned in 1937 and completed in 1986, following 38 years of construction. It is said that Guðjón was inspired by Iceland’s lava flows in his design of the church.
