Of the 30 individuals to have paid the highest tax in Iceland this year, 15 are registered as living in Reykjavík while nine live in neighboring towns: four in Kópavogur, three in Garðabær and two in Hafnarfjörður, mbl.is reports.
Three of the top 30 live in Akureyri, North Iceland, one in Vestmannaeyjar (the Westman Islands), one in Akranes, West Iceland, and one in the U.K.
People’s tax assessment files in Iceland were made available to the public by the Directorate of Internal Revenue today, as they are for two weeks each year.
Business magazine Frjáls Verslsun, published by Heimur, which also publishes Iceland Review, releases its annual Tekjublaðið, a special edition with an overview of the highest tax payers, including the salaries of the directors of the country’s largest companies, tomorrow.
This is the 26th year that Frjáls verslun lists the salaries of individuals based on tax assessment files.
