Minister of Health Ögmundur Jónasson has reversed the decision of his predecessor, Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson, to close the St. Jósefsspítali hospital in Hafnarfjördur.
Jónasson will also review earlier plans of turning the hospital into a nursing home. “The hospital will continue to be operated as a hospital,” he confirmed to Morgunbladid.
The minister also plan increased cooperation between health institutions in Iceland’s southwestern corner.
“I have met with representatives of Landspítali [in Reykjavík] and the hospital in Reykjanesbaer where I have expressed my views that these institutions increase cooperation,” Jónasson said.
