The 25-year-old Icelandic giant Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson was half a point, and 0.44 seconds, away from being the World’s Strongest Man (WSM) 2014 in Los Angeles on Sunday, visir.is reports.
Lithuanian Žydrūnas Savickas took the main prize. Savickas has won the competition three times in the past, in 2009, 2010 and 2012. Hafþór Júlíus finished third in 2012 and 2013 while last year’s winner, U.S. strongman Brian Shaw, came third this year.
The strongman weights 170 kg (375 lb) and stands 2.05 meters (6ft 81⁄2 in) tall.
