Gym for kids opens in Reykjavík

A new gym specifically designed for children opened in World Class gym in Reykjavík last weekend.

The gym is designed for children between the ages of eight to 14, and is equipped with weights that meet the needs of that age group. Most gyms for adults have a 16-year age limit. Fréttabladid reports.

A professional instructor will supervise children working out in the junior gym at all times and teach them how to use the colorful equipment.

Björn Leifsson, owner of World Class, told Fréttabladid that the new gym is suitable for all children, especially for those who do not practice any other sports.

“Regular fitness training can improve the mental condition of all children and help those who need to loose weight,” Leifsson said.

The junior gym at Laugar is modeled according to the Shokk fitness system, which was invented in England and is practiced in about 60 gyms in the UK.
