Icelandic footballer Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson scored the injury time winning goal for his club Tottenham in a 3-2 victory over Southampton in the English Premier League yesterday. It was Gylfi’s first goal for the club in 176 days.
Meanwhile, Turbine Potsdam from Germany won against Torres from Italy, 8-0, in the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions Leagues yesterday. Icelandic international goalkeeper Guðbjörg Gunnarsdóttir is Turbine Potsdam’s goalkeeper and Hallbera Guðný Gísladóttir is a Torres winger.
Also over the weekend, Alfreð Finnbogason scored one goal for his team Heerenveen, his 24th this season, in a 2-2 draw against Nijmegen. He is now the top scorer in the Netherlands first division.
