Grýla and the Yule Lads Visit Stokkseyri

The Elves, Trolls and Northern Lights Museum in Stokkseyri, southwest Iceland, is preparing for Christmas. The infamous ogress Grýla and her 13 sons, the Yule Lads, will honor the museum by their presence until January 6, 2008.

Grýla already made herself at home in a special cave at the museum last weekend, and although she may look rather scary and is known to have a taste for naughty children, she will give a warm welcome to all of the museum’s visitors, according to a press release.

The Yule Lads will assemble in Grýla’s cave in consistency with their schedule of coming down from the mountains and putting presents in children’s shoes, which children place in their windowsill. The first, Stekkjastaur or “Stiff-Legs,” will appear on December 12.
