Group of Hardy People Participate in Ocean Swimming

Around 150 people participated in the annual swim across the Fossvogur channel between Reykjavík and Kópavogur yesterday and they weren’t disheartened by the cold wind.

“The atmosphere was great despite the strong northerly wind,” Árni Jónsson, divisional manager of Yl-strönd in Nauthólsvík (the thermal beach in Reykjavík), told Fréttabladid. He said everything had gone according to plan.

Participants swam from the beach in Nauthólsvík in the capital, across the Fossvogur channel to Kópavogur and back again. Back in Nauthólsvík a concert was held for the hardy swimmers.
