Ground Trembles at Northern Vatnajökull

A series of earthquakes were measured at Mt. Kistufell on the northern side of Vatnajökull glacier last night.

The strongest earthquake, which hit at 5 am, measured 3.3 on the Richter scale, as an automatic sensor at the Icelandic Meteorological Office shows, mbl.is reports.

According to the Meteorological Office, the area in question is known for earthquakes. The development there will be monitored, although no special action will be taken.
