Gréta Salóme to Represent Iceland at Eurovision

Icelanders decided Saturday night who would represent them at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, May 10-14, Vísir reports.

The competition in Laugardalshöll, Reykjavík, resulted in Gréta Salóme Stefánsdóttir’s song ‘Hear them Calling’ being chosen. She not only sings the song, but also wrote the melody and the lyrics. This will be the second time Gréta Salóme competes in Eurovision on Iceland’s behalf. In 2012 she competed in Baku, Azerbaijan, along with Jón Jósep Sveinbjörnsson, when she sang the song ‘Never Forget.’ That song landed them in 20th place with 46 points.

‘Hear them Calling’ was selected by selection committees from different districts and by the audience who voted by phone.
