Green Fields in Volcano-Affected Areas

In the fields surrounding farm Thorvaldseyri in south Iceland, the grass is now growing extremely well, mbl.is reports. This could be due to the recent ash fall.

Ash is believed to have a positive effect on vegetation, due in part to the nutrients it contains, such as minerals and iron.

The dark color of the ash also causes the soil to heat rapidly; heat and moisture being the ideal conditions for the growth of grass. However, these are only cautious assumptions as the full extent of the re-growth will come to light later.
