Government Yet to Discuss EU with Opposition

This week the government has not discussed with the opposition the issue of whether to withdraw from EU accession talks, ruv.is reports. The opposition plans to address the issue with the speaker of parliament today.

No parliamentary meetings have been held this week as it is dedicated to working sessions within parliamentary committees. Members of the opposition have expressed their surprise that they were not invited to government meetings about the EU this week.

The opposition says that it was its understanding that the week would be used to reach an agreement in the dispute.

More than 46,000 people have signed a petition calling for a national referendum on whether or not to continue the EU accession talks.
