Google Street View Cameras Come to Iceland

Two Google cars will travel Iceland over the next two months to take photos for Google Earth and Google Street View.

The cars will travel along all main roads around Iceland and in the country’s towns and villages.

Owner of iStore in Kringlan shopping mall, Sigurður Þór Helgason, told mbl.is that it is important to receive such support in Iceland, adding that the Google team was excited about visiting the country.

Earlier this year, Icelandic data information company Já, which operates the website ja.is, including the Icelandic online phone book launched an experimental project to produce 3D images of Icelandic streets for its online street directory.
